Overview:
The BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Dementia Care (QCF) Care assesses learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills of caring for individuals with dementia. This qualification is aimed at those who are already working in care roles with individuals with dementia and provide an opportunity to have their knowledge and skills recognised through achievement of a nationally accredited qualification. It assesses learners’ competence, for example, their ability to perform a range of tasks in areas of practice such as person-centred working, communication and interaction, equality and diversity, individuals’ rights and choices.
Structure:
To achieve the BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Dementia Care (QCF), learners must gain a minimum of 18 credits. To do this learners must achieve 14 credits from the mandatory units in and a further four credits from optional units.
Mandatory Units:
- Dementia Awareness
- Understand and Implement a Person Centred Approach to the Care and Support of Individuals with Dementia
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Dementia Care Practice
- Approaches to Enable Rights and Choices for Individuals with Dementia Whilst Minimising Risks
- Understand and Enable Interaction and Communication with Individuals with Dementia.
Progression:
It is anticipated that learners will progress to the BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Dementia Care (QCF) or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social care
Duration:
Flexible study but could be completed within 1 to 2 months
