This qualification is to guide and assess development of knowledge and skills relating to the Children and Young People’s Workforce and will provide progression to the Early Learning and Childcare, Social Care and Learning Development and Support Services workforces.

This qualification confirms competence under supervision in these areas where appropriate and serves as a progression pathway to the required qualification at level 3 and above (for all new practitioners) for registration and regulatory requirements in the sector. This qualification has been developed in association with Skills for Care and Development, the Sector Skills Council for the Children and Young People’s Workforce and is based on the National Occupational Standards for the industry.

To achieve the full Edexcel Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People`s Workforce (QCF), learners must gain a minimum of 35 credits. Learners must achieve 31 credits from mandatory units and the remaining 4 credits must be achieved from the optional units.

It is anticipated that learners will progress to the Edexcel Level 3 Diploma in Children`s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) (QCF) (QCF).
