Course Overview
Overview:
This qualification is to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care workforce. It has also replaced the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social care. This qualification confirms competence in these areas for roles such as:

- Care assistants/support workers/key workers in residential settings
- Healthcare assistants/support workers in community and primary care environments
- Healthcare assistants/support workers in acute health environments
- Care assistants/support workers/key workers in domiciliary services
- Care assistants/support workers/key workers in day services
- Support workers in supported living projects
- Community-based care assistants/ support workers/key workers, including those working in specialist areas eg. dementia, learning disabilities
- Personal assistants employed directly by the individual they support or their families
- Emerging new types of workers and multidisciplinary health roles crossing traditional service barriers and delivery model
- This qualification is recognised by care providers, the CQC and Nursing Universities.
Structure:
To achieve the Edexcel Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF), learners must achieve a minimum of 46 credits. To do this they must achieve:

- 24 credits from the mandatory units in Group A
- A minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits must be achieved core units
- IA minimum of 15 credits must be achieved from optional units
- Learners can claim an endorsed pathway on Dementia, Adults with Learning Disabilities or generic

Progression:
It is anticipated that learners will progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social care
Duration:
Flexible study but could be completed within 3 to 6 months
