Certificate in Adult Numeracy Entry 1-3

The EDI Entry Level Certificate in Adult Numeracy has been developed following the production of National Standards for Adult Literacy and Numeracy in 2000.

The following three areas are covered in Adult Numeracy:

• Understanding and using mathematical information
• Calculating and manipulate mathematical information
• Interpreting results and communicating mathematical information

There are 9 units:

• Entry 1:
  • Unit 1 – Using numbers
  • Unit 2 – Using measures, shape and space
  • Unit 3 – Using data
• Entry 2:
  • Unit 4 – Using numbers and fractions
  • Unit 5 – Using measures, shape and space
  • Unit 6 – Using data
• Entry 3:
  • Unit 7 – Using numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Unit 8 – Using measures, shape and space
  • Unit 9 – Using data

Learners may take individual units. In order to achieve the whole qualification, they must complete all three units. The units may be taken at different levels; the overall certificate will be at the level of the lowest unit completed.

50% internal continuous assessment where learners collect a portfolio of work, plus 50% external assessment through assignments.
